Skuncat's Adventure
Skuncat's Adventure
===
A very short game by
Marianne M. Michel
made for VimJam 2020
contains some secrets and lot's of bugs, and just a fraction of the content it should have.
also, the moon is having some trouble.
CAUTION
Don't go down the holes into the secret cavern! I managed to make it impossible to climb out again. /facepalm
CONTROLS
Move: arrow keys or A and D
Crouch: S or downwards arrow
Pause/Menu: Tab or Escape
Dialogue: Enter/Leftclick or left arrow
THEME
The game jam limitation was Collectables, the theme There and back again. Originally, I wanted to add more items to grant new abilities and open locked sections (like the surfboard), so that you play through the levels multiple times, each time finding new areas.
I'll upload a bug-fixed, un-glitched version after the game jam ends. Tell me in the comments, if you'd like to see a full version with better levels and more items.
Thanks so much for playing!

Simple concept. I like the cat has a higher jump ability but the wall grab thingy is pretty weird. It is very important for this game to have music and sound effect though which is pretty much lacking. I like the monster design but I felt the characters has some weird animation for me. I like the surfing part, It's a good feature and fun to cruise foward. I'm very confused of why my cat died especially the first part of the level where there is one cactus at the beginning.
I completed the game and the game is simply nice. Well done.
Here's our game if you ever wanted to have a go https://meltedbrainz.itch.io/the-forgotten-artifac You can also play it on mobile or gaming controller if you desired.
Thanks for the feedback and for playing it to the end! :)
Love the art!! super nice game, and the surf level was just awesome! I like the way just kept the colour scheme, very professionally. I'll be giving you the highest rating I'v giving so far! Well done to you!
If you have time, would you take a look at my game Arcade Boy? I could use some feedback from someone like yourself! Thank you :)
Wow, thank you so much, that really means a lot! Glad you liked the surf level, too :)) There were times where I really wanted to add colours, but I'm glad I resisted, haha ;D
Your game is really awesome, I love it! (More feedback on your page).
Hi Marianne,
The art style, animation and colour scheme is very well done and cohesive. I like how the tail is animated to wriggle in a geometric pattern. I think the game play fits with the theme and makes sense. One comment would be some times the cactus that harms the player vs the cactus that is in the background is not made clear enough because of the similar colour values.
Hey there! Thanks so much for the feedback. And yes, I completely agree, I would definitely change the design of the cacti with a bit more time. In the end I only had one hour left to make two of the levels and build and submit the game, so I had to ignore a lot of these things ;D
I really like your game too, btw, it's very cool.
Thanks!
Very nice art
Thank you so much! :)
